POETRY: THE ECOLOGY OF YOUR LIFE

with Sophie Cooke, Poet and Creative Writing Tutor at the The Open Universityand Tim Lewis, Business Relationships Manager at The Open University and experienced environmental conservationist.

In this workshop, we will be making a poem from the ecological relationships within your life. Picking one item or aspect of your life that means a lot, you will travel along its lifeline back to its origin point – and outward, in the ripples it has made. This isn’t about guilt but truth-telling: speaking the ways in which the materials and habits of our everyday lives are interconnected with the rest of the world and with the natural processes of the planet.

We will play with using the language of consumerism – marketing blurbs, product care guides and lifestyle journalism – alongside the language that expresses what matters most.

You’ll get advice on building effective rhymes and rhythm: the workshop is for everyone.
