healing power of nature

with Magdalena Blazusiak, Chartered Architectural Technologist, Lecturer and PhD researcher at RGU

In some Native languages the term for plants translates to ‘those who take care of us’.”— native  American biologist Robin Wall Kimmerer.

“The relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting  enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us”.

Join Magda for a hands-on creative workshop making nature mandalas (sacred, circular  geometric designs) which explore the connections between nature, creativity, and wellbeing with  the goal of instilling a greater sense of wonder in the natural world.

Through the use of found natural materials, participants will use patterns, symmetry, and sensory  experience to reflect on their perception of beauty, underpinned by their neurological responses to  repeating patterns, and linked to our ability to face everyday challenges.

The workshop will offer a chance to slow down, learn from nature, and contribute to a collective  appreciation of the complexity and beauty of natural systems, though:

Biophilia – the innate love for life and nature has been a part of our species since the  dawn of time, and modern science has begun to uncover just how deeply it influences our  brain function and overall well-being.

Biomimicry – learning from and mimicking nature's designs and processes to solve  human problems

Salutogenesis – focuses on the origins of health and how people maintain or improve it,  rather than solely on the causes of disease.

"Five Ways to Wellbeing" – five evidence-based actions that can improve mental well being.
